Germline Modifiers of Metastasis
A postdoctoral position is available in the Metastasis Genetics Section, Cancer Genetics Branch of the National Human Genome Research Institute. Our laboratory focuses on the influence of germline variation upon tumor dissemination in prostate and breast cancer. (See Crawford Lab for more information.)
The successful candidate will be involved in the further characterization of the recently described metastasis efficiency modifier gene, RRP1B. Techniques utilized will include, but are not limited to, chromatin immunoprecipitation followed by massively parallel DNA sequencing (ChIP-Seq), microarray gene expression analysis, the use of animal models of metastasis, and various proteomics and bioinformatics strategies. Competency in one or more of these areas is desirable.
Candidates must have an M.D. and/or a Ph.D. degree awarded within the past three years and a record of peer-reviewed publications. Additionally, a solid command of English with the ability to speak and write effectively and a high degree of self-motivation are essential.
