Visiting Investigator Program
 

Applications for the Visiting Investigator Program may be initiated by submitting all of the following information:

Cover Letter

The cover letter should describe either a) the proposed research project along with pertinent scientific background information, or b) the specific technology the applicant wishes to learn. Applicants should indicate a proposed start date and proposed length of stay (6 - 12 months); how soon after receiving notice of acceptance into the program they would be able to begin the project/study; and a summary of how they plan to implement the experience and research skills acquired at the Center upon returning to their home institution.

The letter should also include a list of the laboratories, in preferential order, within the Genome Center that are of particular interest to the applicant's area of proposed study. This is essential to match a potential candidate with an appropriate laboratory. Click here for a listing of DIR principal investigators and advisors. Finally, the letter should include mail and E-mail (if appropriate) address(es), daytime and evening telephone numbers, a statement regarding citizenship status (U.S. Citizen, permanent resident, or type of visa held or sought), and an indication of any requested salary supplementation.

Curriculum Vitae

The curriculum vitae should include a list of publications. Please do not send Reprints.

Supporting Letter

The supporting letter should come from the applicant's department head (or equivalent individual).

The application information will be reviewed by the Visiting Investigator Review committee. After initial review, competitive candidates may be contacted for additional information and/or interviews. Selection will be made on the basis of the candidate's demonstrated or potential excellence in a clinical or research discipline. No incomplete application will be submitted to the review committee. Applications from foreign investigators will be accepted on a limited basis.

Applications are accepted throughout the year with individualized start dates. The Visiting Investigator Program Office may be contacted if further information about the application and selection process is needed.
