Visiting Investigator Program
 

The applicant must be an independent faculty investigator and have potential or demonstrated excellence in a clinical or research discipline. Candidates must obtain a letter of support from their department head (or an equivalent individual). Project proposals extending to one year are preferred in order to enhance the possibility of accomplishing significant research objectives. The applicant must be a citizen of the United States or have been lawfully admitted to the United States for permanent residence. Applications from foreign scientists will be accepted on a limited basis.

Scope of Support

Partial funding of up to 50% of current salary support is available, as well as funding for research related expenses while at the NIH. Limited travel support is available. Women and minority candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

When to Apply

Applications are accepted throughout the year and are evaluated by a Review Committee with decisions made in the spring and fall. Allow approximately 3 months for completion of the application review and interview cycle.
