Replication and Fine-Mapping Studies for the Genes, Environment and Health Initiative (GEI)
Advances in genotyping technologies have allowed researchers to progress beyond individual, candidate-gene studies, making genome-wide association studies (GWAS) a reality. Many regions of the genome have been identified as possibly harboring risk alleles, which influence disease susceptibility.
The Genes, Environment and Health Initiative (GEI), a four-year, NIH-wide program, takes advantage of the new scientific and technological opportunities in the field, and identifies major genetic susceptibility factors for diseases of substantial public health impact.
See: Replication and Fine-Mapping Studies for the Genes, Environment and Health Initiative (GEI)(R01) [grants.nih.gov] Application Deadline: December 1, 2008
